Antwerp Modern Art Museum Holds Extensive Rave Exhibition
In collaboration with club Ampere, Antwerp’s Museum of Modern Art will host “Energy Flash,” an exhibition dedicated to rave culture of the 80s and 90s.
Going down from 17 June – 25 September the exhibition aims to “social, political, economic and technological conditions” that allowed rave to flourish across the European continent. It will feature a variety of installations, graphics, and videos that examine rave culture as a “as a highly politicised phenomenon”. The exhibitions primary argument is that: “rave culture was inhibited due to its ambiguous place outside of neoliberal ideology, existing largely autonomous of both market and the state forces”.
In association with the physical exhibit, Ampere will host three events featuring Wolfgang Flür and Renaat Vandepapeliere (16 June), K’Alexi Shelby and Paul Du Lac (17 June), and A Night with Âme (18 June).
