Buiten Westen Festival Stages Pt. 1: ZeeZout

As we’re heading at a good pace towards mid-July, we’re slowly grinding that boiling point as the third edition of Buiten Westen is awaiting us around the corner. On July 19th, Westerpark will pan out with gusto, carrying over 45 prominent artists from every possible corner of the world. Totaling a number of 6 stages, its organizers loosened things around and brought about three new organizations to host some of their “guest” stages. Among its already established organization, Buiten Westen invited Cartel Amsterdam, NGHTDVSN and ZeeZout to be part of this experience. Over the course ofeditions, DHA will bring about what to watch for and to expect from the various stages at Buiten Westen, showcasing its artists and the mood they’re going for. In our first edition we take a look at the ZeeZout stage.

ZeeZout is known within Amsterdam as one of the fastest and most original growing club entrepreneurship that hit the market since 2012. They pride themselves by “connecting and educating friends through music” and if you stay and think about it, it’s what clubbing is really all about. Its roots stand as an intimate church-like gathering where everybody seeks a common calling that revolves around music. Over the course of 2 years, ZeeZout managed to bring toward the public only the clubbing essence by spreading the parties around various grounds and clubs. From the beach clubs to indoors nights, ZeeZout entered venues like Perron, Chicago Social Club, Hal16, and various others. Next to those regular club nights, each year we have seen them hosting stages at various festivals as well as organizing their own Kingsday Special.

What’s really striking and gets the whole ZeeZout memento going is their intriguing choice of artists which balances effortlessly with each chosen location. Among their bookings are artists like Hot Since 82, Ben UFO, Move D, MANIK or Genius of Time. For Buiten Westen festival they have selected a line up that combines various electronic grounds. Ranging from TEED’s  bass/house sound that most of us got familiar through his infamous Boiler Room set. TEED’s music shifts through various ambiences until the point where he creates a jungle of bashing sounds. Motor City Drum Ensemble will be bursting through the jungle and bring to the crowd their calling with something a little more light-hearted but just as good to the ear. Expect disco grooves and soulful house in his gig bag. To end the top 3 on a different plate, the British Floating Points will bring to the table a very tasteful platter of raw house and disco grooves only to loosen things up and offer Buiten Westen its much-needed free spirited mind. ZeeZout’s stage will be completed by Amsterdam’s Tom Trago, GERD & Elias Mazian. Who not need any introduction.

On the next report we’ll take a closer look at the next organization hoping to find another free spirited stage. Till then.
