Cristian Varela Traces 25 Years Of Dance With Intimate New Documentary

Published On 28/03/2017 | News

A seminal member of the Spanish dance music underground, Cristian Varela celebrates 25 years of Techno with the release of a very special career spanning documentary.

Below, you will find the exclusive teaser of the film, which features the likes of Carl Cox, Luciano, Joseph Capriati, Chris Liebing, and other industry titans discuss Cristian’s prolific work, attitude, and place within the wider construct of contemporary dance music. Depicting the story of a young child who’s love affair with electronic music knew no bounds, the film traces the DJs life up until this point.

As an innovator, Cristian consistently has new projects on the horizon – Pornographic Recordings, Phrenetic Society, Electrosonic Festival, Manita or his multidisciplinary VARELIVE project; as an environmentalist, he has been involved in various awareness campaigns and solidarity actions including current project, “Varela Concept”, a collection of 12 tracks looking to raise awareness about problems of the planet and the environment; As a musician, Christian has done it all – performances at Ultra Music Festival Miami, Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Exit, I Love Techno and Creamfields, amongst many others, and over 150 releases on the likes of Toolroom, Bedrock, and Intec.

Of course there’s so much more to Cristian and his 25 year career – I guess that’s why he made a documentary after all – so, check out the teaser below and be on the lookout for the full release during ADE week 2017.
