Cloaked under a bright gold bird-like mask, Claptone travels the world playing shows while picking up new fans at each stop along the way. His productions have become the talk of the town with praise being tossed around by everyone from Pete Tong and DJ Sneak to A-Trak. Hit output for the esteemed Exploited imprint in 2012, kicking off with the infection “Cream”, started the revolution gaining top ten honors on the Beatport chart. Since that release Claptone has gone from strength to strength. “Wrong”, “Night On Fire”, “Good To You” and “No Eyes” being prime examples.
“No Eyes”, which features the vocals of Jaw from dOP has been getting love from all over the world including plays by Annie Mac and Pete Tong (‘Essential Tune’) on BBC Radio 1 who named Claptone ‘Future Star of 2013’ at the beginning of the year. It’s a gripping deep house production with an expressive melody, driven by the low and eerie bass line. The airy keyboard chords gives it the personality of a dark, daydream vibe, while the progression is rhythmic and funky. The fresh vocals interlock with the deep house instrumental, creating a song that will be bumping in the back of your mind for a while. With this success a full remix EP was no surprise. With remixes by Art Department, Doctor Dru, Kyodai, Mickey and Bakermat the EP offers a wide variety of sounds.
The mysterious Claptone will perform during the ADE Exploited night at ”De Balie” amongst label mates like Adana Twins, Doctor Dru, Kyodai, Homework, Joyce Muniz, Leftwing & Kody and Round Table Knights. The berlin based label, leaded by label owner Shir Khan, has been a big influence to the new deep house sound which took over a big part of the scene. With their continuously forward thinking crew they will always be upfront on the newest trends and signing artists like the new ”The Close Up”. An unknown artist coming from Utrecht, Holland with some very fresh productions coming our way soon.
