From The Creators Of Coachella, Panorama Festival Comes To NYC

Billed as “Three days of top tier musical performances, dynamic art installations, innovative technology, and some of NYC’s best local eats.” the new Panoarama Festival comes to New York City’s Randall’s Island Park this summer.

Panorama comes from Coachella and CRSSD producers (and AEG owned) Goldenvoice and will take place 22-24 July. The name Panorama is taken from a 10,000 ft scale model of the city, which sits in the Queens Museum and is entitled “Panorama of the City of New York”.

The event is not without controversy, as the space’s Governor’s Ball Music Festival, which takes place one month prior, has actively petitioned city mayor Bill De Blasio to reject the Panorama event out of fear it would cannibalize ticket sales for that festival, ultimately forcing the event a delay of 5 weeks (now occurring 7 weeks after Governor’s, instead of the original 2 and moving from Queens Corona Park to Randall’s Island). Additionally, Goldenvoice’ track record in NYC is hardly stellar, with its failed 2008/2009 venture All Points West being the company’s only attempt at the competitive New York market.

Despite that, the company seems confident with this latest venture with producer Mark Shulman stating, “We look forward to bringing Panorama to New York City and introducing a new festival that showcases today’s top music acts…We’re committed to creating an event that will provide significant benefits to New York City with the level of experience and meticulous attention to detail for which Goldenvoice is known.”
