Do Not Sleep is one of a few new nights hoping to make a big impact on Ibiza this summer. The night has many things going for it, starting with the fact that it is taking place in the excellent Vista Club, a part of Privilege in an area of Ibiza that is not over populated with party people. The juxtapose of the tranquil surroundings off set with the pumping sound system not only allow great views but makes for magical moments when the sun comes up and goes down as the backdrop for the music.
The night has lined-up some great bookings that differ from the norm, and include the likes of TEED, Craig Richards, Dense & Pika, Marquis Hawkes and many more, every Sunday, between now and September.
The opening party gets under way in true Ibiza style with a pre party at Savannah Bar, located in San Antonio, where a rolling breeze, late afternoon sun turned gorgeous sunset and relaxed vibes all set a nice mood. Then the troops all head down to Vista Club, and before long the venue is packed with people dancing to the lush house sounds of Jasper James.
Another thing this night has going for it is its residents, with Darius Syrossian, Sante and Sydney Charles a dream team house trio of talents that all serve up no nonsense, tough and jacking house. They call themselves ‘bros’ and it shows, they give off a feeling that they’ve played together for years when in fact it’s been months yet the trio click together seamlessly and work the decks like the DJs of old. Attention to detail and fluidity have been consciously considered by the guys and it’s refreshing to see this new trio evolve.
The decor is minimal and functional, with but one screen displaying the night’s name, and a chandelier hanging down above the booth. Lights and lasers add plenty of colour to proceedings and of course, that sound system is so fire you need little else for a great night.
Back to the set from the residents, who will be on hand every night to serve up plenty of fiery house antics, and they drop everything from their own fine output to classics by Groove Armada. It might have been a long set but the boys manage to keep everyone entertained, with only a small group of people moving from inside to outside to take small breaks.
During Flashmob’s set, people crowd the DJ booth, punch the air and swing their hips all night long. It is one full of new and classic tracks alike, as well as Flashmob’s own material. People pack the place out until well past sun up, taking in the breathtaking sunrise through the clubs huge ‘vista’ and that tells you all you need to know about this night – that it is surely one of the best new additions to the islands in 2015.
