When you turn out a track which, that summer, goes on to become the most Shazam’d track in all of Ibiza, you know you are on to a winner.

And that’s just what Ninetoes did with his ‘Finder’, a playful tech tune that proved he knows how to lay down great grooves as well s quirky sounds. Years later he has kept the goodness coming and is now linking with labels like Moon Harbour. Fresh off the back of his debut at the iconic DC10 at Circo Loco in Ibiza, he talks to us about why he loves the island, how his DJing and production relate to one another and more besides.

“I don’t think that a Beatport no.1 is the only thing that will blow up your career. “

You have a new EP on Moon Harbour coming soon right? Tell us about that, what inspired or influenced it….
The summer and the island (Ibiza). when you listen to it you will know what i’m talking about 🙂

What does it feel like when you have tunes in the Beatport charts – does that equal success to you?
Actually I had a number 1 track together with Fatboy Slim on Beatport and there was nothing crazy about it, I didn’t get more bookings because that. So I don’t think that a Beatport no.1 is the only thing that will blow up your career. It takes more than that.

You played at DC10 this month for the first time – How was it?
DC10 is one of my favorite clubs world wide and i’m very often there when i’m on the island. so it’s was a special booking to open up the terrace on Monday.

How do you like Ibiza? Can you remember the first time you went? What was it like?
I love this island. The vibe and the energy here is beautiful. My first time on the island was 2006 and back then everything was cheaper on the island 🙂

Do your DJing and production relate to one another? Are you thinking about where music might work when you make it?
Sure. I try to play as often i can my own music in my sets, but when i write music i don’t think about where to release. its more like a ‘go with the flow’ thing.

You play big festivals as well as smaller clubs – do you have to switch up your sound for each one? Do they require different kinds of tunes?
I always play freestyle sets, because you can’t play the same set in a different club or festival. you have different vibes in different clubs or festivals, even from night to night in the same venue!

What was the last record you bought and why?
Traumer – Gonna Get
imo one of the best and most underrated tracks in 2017

Whats next for you, what else are you working on?
My latest single “Come Back” on DFTD was just released on May 19th and it just climbed up to #1 on traxsource 🙂

This monday I have my debut at DC10 / Circoloco on the terrace.

On June 23rd my new EP called “Bonita” will come out on Moon Harbour and the summer will very busy as always 🙂
