SolidGrooves is one of the most exciting new additions to the White Isle. Last year they had a series of dates at Sankeys Ibiza that announced their intention but now they are back with a full programme. The club night has a focus on underground tech and house acts from across the globe and when the line-ups were announced for their first season, plenty of people got hot under the collar. Tonight it all kicked off in style at Vista Club in Privilege.

First things first – the venue is a great one, which boats a small, raw and cosy and erosional feeling when on the dance floor. The sound system is also a beefy one that cannot fail to make an impact on you and add into that the fact that it has big glass walls down once side, so that when the sun begins to come up it beams in and adds some extra special, magical vibes to processing, and you have the recipe for Ibiza party success.

As we arrive, a healthy crowd is already in attendance. They are largely English in nationality with a smattering of other European faces, and all of them a re young, keen and ready to go hard all night long. As such it is appropriate that Subb-An is on first, dropping chunky funk and solid house grooves for a none stop hour.

After him, one of the most established UK hit makers and headline DJs steps up for the first of a few dates – that man is Huxley, and he keeps up well oiled with fluid grooves, garage and house bangers and plenty of his own cheeky cuts as well as those form the likes of Point G and Pig & Dan. His selections go down well and bring lots of reactions from the ravers on the floor as the tempo steps up.

Later in the night we are treated to a very special and unannounced guess in the form of DJ wizard and technology lover James Zabiela. The enthusiastic DJ bangs through myriad genres with great dexterity and logic defying skill and really whip the crowd into a frenzy. House, techno, bass, all get dropped, and all get lapped up by the crowd. Closing down the night is Michael Bibi, resident and founder and someone who must have really enjoyed his set given how well this opening party went down.
