Owners and operators of Ibiza mega venue Ushuaïa have taken over Space Ibiza, putting much of the famed club’s future up in the air.

So much so that, perhaps its primary resident, Carl Cox has declared this to be his last season at the venue, as the Palladium Hotel Group (PHG) looks to compliment the Ushuaïa with Space’s.

“Obviously we want to keep it as a disco, but also want to dedicate it to the audience in which we are now focusing, which will be complementary to Ushuaïa,” PHD CEO Abel Matutes Prats told Diario de Ibiza.

Though this may still be somewhat distressing to the crowd who doesn’t frequent Ushuaïa and its EDM allegiances, it still comes as better news that what many thought would be Space’ fate: a shopping centre. Thought the club will still operate as such, and not even a hotel, it still is almost certain that Space Ibiza will exclusively cater to the “VIP clientele” free roaming Ibiza these days.
