It is fair to say Solomon is one of the biggest draws in all of Ibiza by now. He has two of his own parties, and tonight, his live concept kicked off at the glossy and glamorous Ushuaïa (with later dates also to take place at Destino.) As ever there was a baying crowd hungry to hear the first beats of the season and neither the Diynamic label boss nor the special guest disappointed. That crowd is made up of girls and boys from around the world, they really seem to know their stuff and are up for a good time, bot just posing for pictures like many crowds.

This part by now has a great reputation and has helped this club, known for its EDM, move into more cool and underground markets. Tonight it was the turn of Cocoon pair Pig & Dan to headline where the likes of the other seven dates will feature Mathew Jonson, Henrik Schwarz, Rodriguez Jr., Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Stephan Bodzin. Before that, though, we all get down under the baking sun, right by the blissful pool. The music is suitable beachy, breezy and balearic and the people are all equally stylish and clued-up as they begin to get into the groove.

Diynamic’s in house artist Magdalena is the one supplying the sounds to start with. She goes for a warm, melodic sounds that is nice and musical and underpinned by driving house beats. With the beautiful setting adding an air of excitement to the party, the crowd really lap up her work. She drops plenty of classic cuts that the crowd recognise and make for many great moments that will stick long in the mind.

There is also some great production to mention visuals display tropical scenes that add to the feeling that you are in paradise. And really you are. It is obvious to say, but this is an outdoor party, and there are very few of them available any more with police crackdowns, so the experience feels even more rare and special.

When the time comes for the main act to step up, the crowd is ready. They press forward to the DJ booth and Pig & Dan step up with a live performance that is as good to look at as it is too listen to. Bosses of their own Elevate label and producers of some essential tech beats, they take us on a feel good journey full of joy and uplifting grooves. Pretty people smile ear to ear, get down to every new drop and really help make the whole party as atmospheric as any in the White Isle.

After them, the main man steps up at 9pm, The sun is starting to faded but the mood is not, there is excitement in the air. Playing beats to match the fact the night is turning to day, Solomun masterful weaves his way through moody styuff, deep stuff and more driving stuff. His three hour set rushes by and no one leaves the floor. It is a fine opening party and only got us more excited for the rest yet to come.
