Loco Dice is heading down to South Africa for a tour – and not just any tour, this one is for a good cause. Loco will be doing gigs as well as workshops for a group called Bridges for Music, which is an organisation that aims to have a positive impact on underprivileged communities in the developing nations and raise awareness, all through music.
February will mark the first fundraiser of the year by Bridges for Music, which became known last year from their charity campaign with Resident Advisor where people rode their bikes from London to the Amsterdam Dance Event. This time a campaign brings Loco Dice to South Africa. The Desolat label boss will be playing three shows and also holding two workshops during his stay. All proceed of these will be forwarded to educational projects, such as the music and media school which is being built into the town of Langa. The tour is made possible by Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town.
First chance to catch Loco Dice will be at the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival on the 6th of February. The same day, Loco will also be hosting a workshop at the Gugulethu township of Cape Town. The tour then continues on the 7th of February at Truth in Johannesburg. Other acts of the line up are Anja Schneider from Germany, and local heroes Culoe De Song, Ryan Murgatroyd, Jazzuelle and Trancemicsoul. The tour ends on the 8th of February at Soweto’s Zone 6. Taking the stage with Loco Dice are Dj Shimza, Jullian Gomes, Da Capo, Vinny Da Vinci and the great Black Coffee. Loco will also hold a special workshop at the Kliptown Youth Centre in Soweto.
This is the first time that Loco Dice visits South Africa for touring. Combining the visit with an opportunity to do good is something that we here at DHA value greatly. To be a part of the tour, even if you can’t attend to the events, you can donate to Bridges for Music. Donations can be made here.
