Next week sees the return of Ibiza’s annual IMS conference and the official opening of the season. To say we’re excited is a bit of understatement as this year’s event promises to top the 2013 edition – which was a fantastic few days of talks featuring some of music world’s most interesting characters, both from the new generation and from the past, too.
This year IMS takes place at the brand new Hard Rock Hotel, located in Playa D’en Bossa, with thousands of international delegates descending on the site for a 3-day long conference. Among the luminaries booked in for appearances are George Clinton, the mighty funkadelic frontman of Parliament – a funketeer from outer space whose influence permeates into the music of today. George has recently been collaborating with the guys from Soul Clap, so it will be interesting to hear what he says about the new generation and whether he gets down with today’s interpretations of P-funk.
New blood such as Seth Toxler, Jamie Jones and Paco Osuna will also be providing their opinions on numerous topics, so this promises to be an enlightening experience for everyone in attendance.
On Thursday 22nd, a very special Frankie Knuckles tribute is due to take place with Pete Tong playing back-to-back with David Morales and Hector Romero. Frankie’s long time manager Judy Weinstein will also be on hand for what is sure to be a highly emotional evening.
This year’s IMS anthem has been composed by Pretty Lights, with our man MK on remix duties.
So there’s all of that happening before we’ve even had a chance to list the endless amount of opening parties that will be going on during the conference. Phew!
Quite a week is in store, so make sure you check out Deep House London for up to date news live from Ibiza.
