With a recent legislative blanket ban focused on the sale of legal highs and nitrous oxide ready to be implemented, it seems as if some UK activists are not taking the news lying down.
An organisation called the Psychedelic Society, a new pressure group for “people fascinated by and appreciative of psychedelic substances,” is planning a mass protest against the Psychoactive Substances Bill with the intention of giving lawmakers the one-finger salute, and all planned in front of the Houses of Parliament. Though a specific date has yet to be announced, the protest will be organised as a mass inhalation of NOS.
Using the handle #mymindmychoice, event organiser Stephen Reid has stated his aim to facilitate a dialogue on the proposed legislation, “You may not want to take nitrous oxide but it should be up to an individual to decide whether or not to use it,” Reid told BuzzFeed. “Plus there have been so many artists over the years mentioning psychedelics – it’s certainly embedded into our culture,” Reid continued
