Melbourne’s Lou Karsh delivers an EP full of emotive acid and techno.
With only a handful of releases on his own imprint, Lou Karsh Records, and under his evil reptilian alter ego (which shall not be exposed here), the maturity of these productions belies a relatively new hand.
Here, recorded in one take, ‘Ataraxia’ opens the A side of its eponymous EP, setting the tone with a huge off beat kick and sparse 909 drums. Neatly evolving through swelling pads and a sculpted 303 there’s something not too distant from the emotive power of early 808 State coupled with the lucid basslines of Phuture.
“Ataraxia” is available 2 February on X-KALAY
