Tim Engelhardt is but the latest ace in the sleeve of Cologne’s striving electronic music community.
Having released his first single at the age of 14, this classically trained musician has since released on the likes of Traum Schallplatten, WIR and Babiczstyle, drawing much inspiration from the rolling hills and sprawling forests of Germany’s Westerwald – one of the country’s best-known mountain ranges. Perhaps the “breakout” moment for Tim was in 2015 with his ‘Everything Is All You Have’ and ‘Enigmatism’ one-two punch on Steve Bug’s iconic Poker Flat imprint.
Now, some two years later, Tim returns to Poker Flat, only this time with an expanded 10 track LP entitled “Moments of Truth”. With evident maturity throughput his debut album, we exclusively premiere one of its more dancefloor oriented cuts, ‘When The Distance Disappears’. On the track, Tim states:
“‘When The Distance Disappears’ is the core of the album for me. It was written in just two hours and has only been touched again for mixing afterwards. The difference to most of the tracks I made before was I couldn’t say what really happened in these two hours – everything disappeared around me and I was in an intense focused state of mind that appears only very rarely.
With the album, I tried to capture 10 of these moments of truth. It took me some time to build an album around this idea because these moments happen very rarely and most of the times they come very unexpected. After two years of producing almost 40 tracks for the album. I tried to select the best and it turned out, the ones that stood out were the ones that are the result of these moments.”
“Moments of Truth” is available 5 May on Poker Flat Recordings
