Mix #106 by Isaac Tichauer
Isaac Tichauer is a Berlin-based DJ/producer whose oozing soul and moody bass-lines splice together classic and contemporary house schemes into a personal sound is now starting to grab more attention in the scene. His first album, ‘Devotion’, gave the world a captivating first glance at Isaac’s production muscle and lengthy infatuation with his sophisticated sound. A compelling first effort for a person born completely deaf and now living with just one working ear.
Isaac began his musical career as a classically schooled pianist. But, heavily influenced by the Detroit house scene, changed his course and chose for a career in electronic music. He is characterized by his deep progressive energy that can be found in his music through detailed synth work, melancholy vocals and classic lead elements from Rhodes to strings. In July 2013, Isaac was signed to French Express, who are good friends of ours (and partners in partying at BPM Festival). Other notable artists at the label are Moon Boots, Jonas Rathsman and label owner Perseus.
Continuing his “exploration of classic sounds”, Isaac released his club hit ‘I Forgive You‘, and more recently the “Take Over You” EP in May 2013 that saw Isaac’s compositions reach new heights enjoying regular play on BBC Radio One and Triple J Australia. Now residing in Berlin, Isaac works as a producer full time dedicating his time to a host of brand new productions (his upcoming ‘Changes‘ single will be dropped on April 15) and continuing his celebrated mixtape series. Of which the latest he made for us. Press play and be ready to get into the deep.
