In our segment ‘New Kids On The Block’ we want to introduce you to new developments in the scene across various fields, be they in artists, events or gear. We will kick off with a top five of promising new festivals across the world that we feel have a lot of potential in them. Some of you might have already planned their festival season, but you might be adding one or two to your schedule after checking out these events.
The Bay Festival – Corsica (CANCELLED)
The Bay will take place on Corsica. A beautiful spot, between land, the sea and a river. Another Corsican corner paradise. You can dance, swim or just enjoy the sunshine. Besides this you can dance off to Adriatique, Ben UFO, John Talabot and many more.
Wonderfruit Festival – Thailand
Wonderfruit Festival is more than just music. The idea is to demonstrate and attract attention and recognition for the environment and other social concerns, in a unique and engaging way. This includes healthy eating, reviving arts and crafts, sustainability in environment and opportunities for participation and collaboration. Besides this you can expect big names like Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones and Subb-an.
Lost & Found Festival – Malta
Lost & Found is the first festival presented by BBC radio host Annie Mac. It will take place in Malta during the Easter weekend. Expect boat parties, beach parties night time open air raves and surprises. Annie managed it to get the biggest names like Breach, Carl Craig, Ten Walls and Hot Since 82 to play at her first festival.
Oasis Festival – Morocco
A new festival in Marrakech called Oasis will take place from September 11th through 13th. The Fellah Hotel, located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains hosted the likes of James Holden and Floating Points for an artist residency during the last year. This year Oasis will take place from September 11th through 13th. A great hotel, pools, good weather and DJs like DJ Harvey, Axel Boman, Agoria.
Future Fusion Festival: Safari – South Africa
Future Fusion Festival is a three day electronic music festival in Africa hosting one of the biggest contemporary line-ups. Over 60 international and local Electronic DJs & live acts divided over five carefully constructed stages and arenas. The scenic location will offer visitors the option of three natural dams, a paintball area, an Urban Arts Village, exquisite cuisine and gourmet foods, morning safari rides , morning helicopter rides, an outdoor cinema, VIP Pool parties and a backyard BBQ area. If this isn’t enough yet you can expect Innervision, Hot Creations and Noir hosting their own stages.
