German DJ and producer Michael Baumann aka SoulPhiction premieres with a track released by Music For Freaks, a British label with a roster that includes artists such as Thugfucker, Phil Weeks, Doc Martin, Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Soul Clap, and others of a similar calibre.
Emerging from the late 80s Hip-Hop/Boogie/Funk-Era, Soulphiction started his career by spinning as a hip-hop DJ at local jams in the Stuttgart area. In 1991, he infused Chicago and Detroit based House music into his own style, all the while working at a record store. In 1996 he put out his first two releases on Frankfurt’s stir15 label, followed by the classic “The Jacker” on the then new poker flat label. Since then Soulphiction has released on labels such as Perlon, Rebirth, Pampa, Tsuba, Freerange Records, Playhouse, Mosaic, and Freude am Tanzen to name a few.
Premiering on DHA is SoulPhiction’s remix of Dave Aju’s Freee Lover EP, a favourite amongst many of the world’s top club DJs. Soulphiction brings some heat to “Freeeze” by bumping the thermostat and locking up the groove. Produced within his own fashion, he contains the originals’ soul whilst adding his own distinctive sound.
Dave Aju’s Freee Lover EP will be available May 27th via Music For Freaks.
