After a memorable edition last August, Straf_Werk Festival is back again this year at Sportpark Riekerhaven. Those attending can expect to dance and chill to their heart’s desire, and enjoy the range of cookery found at the diverse range of food stands.
Like last time around, the line-up is pretty damn impressive, with a mix of international headliner DJs and up and comers from around and abroad, treating Amsterdam to some extraordinary sets at the three different stages. Jamie Jones, Âme, Tensnake, Agoria, KINK, Breach, Huxley and Ten Walls will be the headlining all-stars of the show.
One of the lesser known names on the list (but in no way less interesting) is Tsepo. The charismatic and big afro’ed Dutchman, born Jan van der Lugt, has been bubbling under the surface with a new batch of music soon to be unleashed into the wider world. It will surely find its way to house music lovers around Europe who will soon pick up on his talents. We like it that this natural born artist has taken his time to really find his own sound without rushing into things too fast – a mistake being made by all too many aspiring DJ/producers nowadays.
Straf_Werk Festival 2013
Next to producing Tsepo, which means hope in South African, has already been making a name for himself in the clubbing circuit of Amsterdam. With a residency at Nuno Dos Santos’s Something Happening Somewhere label nights for expample, or having turned the heads of influentials at club Trouw. As such, he has recently been installed as resident there and has already warmed up for the likes of Laurent Garnier and Michael Mayer.
You can bet to catch us listening to this guy when he’s playing his set at Straf_Werk this summer. For now, you can listen to his podcast, which honestly sounds like nothing else we’ve heard in a long while. So press play and prepare to be swept along on a musical journey that you might want to experience more than once..
