Street Fighter II Soundtrack Re-Released On Vinyl
Our gaming hearts skipped a beat when we read about a small production company aiming to give classic game soundtracks a second life, planning to re-release what is viewed by the older generation of gamers as one of the most iconic (and most addictive) fighting games ever made: Street Fighter II.
The Japanese production company Brave Wave has made it its mission to “explore the interplay between video games, music, and nostalgia.” That means taking the unpolished soundstrack from nostalgic videogames that we have sweet, sweet memories of, remastering them for the 21st century and then selling them in incredible sleeves like the one you see above.
A statement from Brave Wave:
“The soundtrack release will include new remasters of both CPS-1 and CPS-2 versions of the arcade game, extracted directly from the arcade boards and approved by original composer Yoko Shimomura.
Fans of physical media will be treated with a double album that features liner notes by Yoko Shimomura and Polygon.com writer Matt Leone. Additionally, and for the first time in the series history, we will present with Capcom a limited edition vinyl release, carefully and especially remastered in translucent colored vinyls, with art prints sourced from the Capcom archive.”
