His first since 2014, where his photography was displayed on T-Shirts by Hugo Boss, this time the collection is high tech men’s socks from ITEM m6. As you can see in the gallery below, there is a boxing theme going on here, with Marquadt explaining, “I was inspired by boxing matches, which represent masculinity, victory, pride, but also vulnerability and something rebellious. With this idea in mind, we selected our models, men who know the boxing ... Read more

Vienna Now Deems All Clubs As Culturally Signficant

The high culture in nightlife wars continue to rage on after the well documented troubles of London’s fabric, Chicago’s nightclubs,  and the triumph of Berlin’ Berghain’s status of cultural importance. Now, a new city: Vienna, has come to the night world’s aid, deeming ALL their nightclubs to be spaces of cultural significance and thus ridding them of the country’s 15% “entertainment tax” (it should be noted this tax only pertained to dance events and not to “standing room” style concerts. As an example, an Austrian musician was fined some €10,000 because too many people were dancing at his show). The tax ... Read more

Figure SPC: The Inside Story With Jeroen and Len

In early July, Jeroen Search was enlisted to close the final chapter of Len Faki’s Figure SPC, the long-running techno label with releases catalogued from A-Z. Spanning output over a period of nearly 7 years, Figure SPC has carved a new shape in Techno with its distinct approach to curation and the sheer depth of each artist’s musical input. A common misconception in Techno is the notion that it emanates specifically from club experiences, and that it can be solely understood in the club realm. However, Len Faki and his legion of artists have a much more unique and organic approach to ... Read more

Interview: Cassy. The Donna of Techno

I thought I knew exactly how I will introduce Cassy after we finished our long 40 min skype call. Loads to discuss – her her freshly released album, debut on Radio 1’s Essential Mix series, Ibiza, women in the music industry and the rights and wrongs of the dance music industry. So I thought, I will introduce Cassy as someone that every girl in the electronic music scene can look up to. A strong, independent and unique woman with a feminine power and a sensitive musical flow, who also happens to be excellent DJ. But I was wrong. I just did not instantly see the whole picture. ... Guy Is Selling Agressive Police Letter After Stealing Berghain Drinks Menu

Remember the guy who was selling the Berghain drinks menu from a few months back? Well, he’s back with a new item for sale, this time a rather aggressive letter written by Berlin police on the selling of that drink menu. It turns out that Berlin, that techno mecca of mystery, has about zero chill after going to police threatening to sue. The seller, in ever casual fashion, simply describes the item like this: “I (allegedly) stole a drinks menu from Berghain to sell it on eBay and someone went to the police to sue. lol So the cops wrote ... New Multi Stage Luxury Development May Threaten Berghain

A new commercial ‘entertainment district” may threaten Berlin’s reigning techno mecca Berghain, as planned development centers around the district’s Mercedes-Benz Arena. The news comes, as reported by several Berlin newspapers, that the space opposite Berghain will include a mall, a multi-lane bowling alley and “a full range of other wholesome family-oriented businesses”. What is truly concerning is that this seams to be just the beginning of a multi stage development strategy that could change the entire city for the…worse (my opinion). Berghain, however, is not unfamiliar with this sort of concern, as its predecessor, Ostgut, ironically was forced to move ... Read more

Can You Get Into (Virtual) Berghain?

Berlin’s Berghain is notorious for its strict door policy (we’ve covered that a lot, along with just about every other nightlife media). Equally prolific are tips and trends that may actually be able to get you into the techno mecca. From advice from Sven himself, to cheeky cartoons depicted some other strategies. Now, though, a new virtual program takes the process to its most personal with Berghain Trainer. The idea is pretty simple, a POV camera walks up to the club, through its snaking queue where you meet “Sven” (not the real one), who asks you 3 questions. Apparently there ... Read more

The Weekend In Dance Music Relationship Goals

Over the weekend, two instances of love in times of techno went down, highlighting a life’s worth of companionship with a proper soundtrack to match. First off, on Saturday, the reigning king & queen of techno made it official, tying the knot and partying in style afterwards. Adam Beyer took to his Facebook to announces that he and longtime partner Ida Engberg had just been married and, if that wasn’t enough, were heading straight to Berghain to celebrate. “Yeeeeeeeeees!!!!! Just got married to the woman of my dreams! All is full of love!,” Beyer posted, going on with, “we’re off to Berghain ... Read more

In it, US and Soviet secret service agents travel through time preventing a nuclear winter all while partying in the iconic techno haven.
