The BPM Festival Shooting: What We Know

After a lone gunman opened fire at The BPM Festival’s Elrow event at Blue Parrot in the early hours of Monday morning, the festival itself has released a heartbreaking statement trying to clarify the ongoing, fluid situation: “It is with great sadness to share that police have confirmed reports of a lone shooter outside the Blue Parrot nightclub in Playa Del Carmen earlier today, which resulted in four fatalities and 12 injured. Relocating from Detroit to New York, Ataxia is a producer & DJ duo composed of Ted Krisko and Eric Ricker. We present their mix in collaboration with the Boom Room. Last week the 8th edition of the BPM Festival was held in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Originally conceived as an event for people in the hospitality industry – BPM stood for Bartenders, Promoters, Managers – over the years the festival has grown to a gathering of DJ’s, producers and electronic dance music fans.
