Party Report: Movement Detroit 2017

As we start the “warm up” festivities on Thursday at T.V. Lounge in Detroit, we are happily surprised how everyone is so welcoming and nice. Motor City, as everyone should know, is the birthplace of techno and even at 9pm, 7pm or whatever time of the night, we get some techno beats in the face and we love it. The venue is nothing fancy, the speakers look like they’re custom made, it looks more like a bar than a club but it has such a real feel to it, we enjoy the place very much. T.V Lounge is the Staple ... Read more

Festival Report: Oasis Festival 2016

When you think of Morocco, the first things that will spring up are probably the classic and romantic connotations from popular fiction like Casablanca and Lawrence Of Arabia (not set in Morocco but you get where I’m going at). What nobody expects in this Northern-African, is a quality dance music festival in a luxurious surrounding with reigning artists like Dixon, The Black Madonna & Tale of Us. So there, in the middle of the desert, just south of the state’s capital of Marrakech, laid Oasis Festival. The festival’s second edition had a change of location and was moved to “The ... Read more

Pete Tong Calls For Global Appreciation Of Electronic Music Legacy

Last Friday, 10 April 2015, veteran DJ and host of long-running dance music radio programme The Essential Mix (amongst others), Pete Tong, penned an interesting opinion editorial in Billboard magazine.  In it, Tong (writing for a primarily American audience) highlighted the rapid rise of Electronic Music, particularly within a “mainstream” acceptance context. With that, Tong also points out how the scene is quintessential toward the millennial generation’s accessibility to technology, digitization, and (perhaps, most importantly) global interconnectivity.  Furthermore, the question was raised: What will the newfound global popularity of Electronic Music ultimately leave behind, beyond simply the music and events? Pete ... Read more
