Earth Day 2016: 10 Environmentally Conscious Festivals

Today, 22 April is Earth Day. The International day of focus on Terra Firma is equal parts encouraging and depressing, given that humanity needs to be forced in thinking about that which gave it life for one solitary day per year; ideally, every day would be Earth Day, but I’m getting distracted now. Anyway, in honor, we’ve highlighted 10 festivals around the world who have developed and maintained a commitment to mindfulness, sustainability and the environment, without the horrendous hand of corporate influence (almost) that oversees resource destruction the world over. Looking across the lineup for DGTL festival, it’s tricky to know quite what to expect. If one thing is clear; no expense has been spared. If you’re looking for a heavy weigh-in of DJs for your hard earned euros, then DGTL festival is the one but that’s assuming you get as excited about Gold Panda as you do about Adriatique.  When you arrive at the site you’re first struck by the sheer size of it. Six prefabricated stages are spread around ... Read more

Mix #194 By Andhim

Clocking in on the DHA Mixtape series are the Andhim boys from Cologne. Andhim’s sound is self-described as soulful ‘super house’ that is organically passionate in detail. To say the least – that’s exactly what they provided for us here today. It was only until Spring 2010 that the duo began publicly releasing material. Prior to that, the duo flew under the radar, zeroing in on their studio work. What followed was a unique articulation of house-driven constructions, with grassroots that flow from Hip-Hop, Turntablism, and Jazz. Their individuality and artistry has earned them a place on labels such as Get Physical, Monaberry, Terminal M, ... Read more
