Premiere: Maheras - Tartessos [Into The Woods Recordings]

With his fifth release on Into The Woods Recordings, Maheras delivers “Tartessos,” a nod to his Greek roots and enigmatic journey into minimal dancefloor dub while growing up on the streets of Brooklyn. The original, today’s premiere, is hypnotic with a deep percussive pulse and harmonic delays that spiral across a four to the floor bass line and kick pattern. Premiere: Mijo - THXTASY (Moisees Remix) [Duro]

Mexico’s leading underground label Duro Records is back with an EP from Mijo, a multi-instrumentalist with a raw sound that mixes up tech, disco, house and analogue synths. Serving up a fine original alongside remixes by Paulor, D.Y.O.R., The Chica, it is Duro co-founder Moisees, the man behind last year’s ‘Train Station Philosophy’, who takes ‘THXTASY’ into a realm of corrugated funk, macho disco grooves and stuff hits that make you jerk your body. “THXTASY” is available 29 October on Duro PRE ORDER

Opal Sunn are Hiroaki Oba and Al Kassian, two expats from Japan. After releasing two EOs on their own Planet Sundae label, they offer their follow up on Nick Höppner’s new label, Touch From a Distance where they continue to refine their style which displays and exquisite sense of space, melody, movement, and groove. Here, off the “Parallax” EP, ‘Phantom’, favors an Electro beat occasionally kissed by the legendary “Think” break.
