The (Unsurprisingly Terrible) Electronic Music Awards Nominees Are Announced

A few weeks ago, we learned that something called the “Electronic Music Awards And Foundation” (EMAF) existed and was airing its Grammy-esque award show on Fox sometime in late April. Though marketed as the “first” award show for electronic music, perhaps a better approach would be the first televised award show, the EMAF has now announced the nominees in each of their, suitably redundant 7 categories. Amongst the categories are your standard Album and Single of the Year, as well as accolades to Best Festival and Best Club. There’s not much insight into the nomination process and what exactly constitutes ... Read more

De Marktkantine Announces Headliner-Filled Spring Program

De Marktkantine, the familiar club at Amsterdam’s Jan van Galenstraat, has been open for one and a half years now. The collective of promoters and dance scene veterans behind the club set a common goal to turn it into a prominent nightlife venues, in-tune with the latest developments in underground dance, while not shying away from the odd surprise in its program either. While some promising nights at the club were met with disappointing ticket sales, other events saw the venue reach its full potential, like the pandemonium witnessed during Ame B2B Job Jobse, the Innervisions label night with Dixon or the sweet chaos created by the eclectic Mr. ... The 10 Most Wanted House Records On Discogs Right Now

Recently we reported on a possible reissue of one of the releases from Black Cock, the half-serious disco edit imprint set up by DJ Harvey and Gerry Rooney. The reason for this were the “silly prices” that some people were asking for the various Black Cock editions offered on Discogs – some of which go as high as 500 euros.  See also: Black Cock Records Might Get Reissue In general Discogs terms, this is really nothing new: in recent years people have numbed to the odd skyrocketing price tag that comes along with rare VA’s or mint condition first pressings of legendary records. DJ Harvey Hints At Legendary Black Cock Records Re-Issue

In a recent Facebook post, esteemed old-timer DJ Harvey hints at a re-issue of one the fabled Black Cock Records releases. The late Black Cock Records solely put out disco edits by Harvey himself and longtime compadre Gerry Rooney. Starting out as a bit of a laugh, the label has now taken near legendary proportions – not in the least place because of the, as Harvey calls it, “silly prices”. Silly might be a bit of an understatement, as some of the edits (mostly one-sided) are being offered on Discogs for as much as 500 euros. Which Black Cock release will be reissued is not clear as of ... Read more
