Premiere: Theus Mago & Local Suicide – Komm Ins Loch (Aera Remix) [Duro]

After a fantastic solo single in late 2018, Theus Mago is back with more club heat, this time in collaboration with the Local Suicide duo on his own co-run Duro label. Theus Mago is the alter-ego of established Mexican producer Mateo González. Responsible for projects such as Bufi (Kitsuné/Discotexas) and Sonido Fantasma (Turbo Recordings) he has a deeply expressive, freeform sound that mixes darker moods with lighter synths. The lead single’s title is roughly translated from German to English as ‘Come Into The Hole’. This double entendre can be taken as the never-ending vortex of deep space, as well as ... Read more

Premiere: Kiwi – Condor [Correspondant]

It’s been an immense year for Alex ‘Kiwi’ Warren. After a string of releases on the likes of Futureboogie, Disco Halal and 17 Steps, he returns to Correspondant with a fittingly beautiful full label debut. The EP, with four originals and one remix, has flavours and essences that range from the tubular arpeggio and Balearic pull of ‘Condor’ to the struts and disco twinkles of ‘Tifock‘. This is undoubtedly Kiwi’s biggest release to date. And it’s perfect for the colder club-bound season ahead. “A Peruvian Dream” is available 23 November on Corresponant, PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE Soundcloud Artist Page Resident Advisor [soundcloud ... Lente Kabinet 2018: The Maturing, But Ever So Rebellious Little Sister

It’s 11:30 in the morning on a Saturday as we quickly finish our coffee and hop on the bike to set out for one of the best festivals this season. We set a course due North, away from the sprawling capital of modern dance music, into its hinterlands. As houses become fewer and further in between, the landscape becomes greener as we paddle our way over an ever-increasing number of dikes and bridges; a sign indicating we’ve now officially left Amsterdam is overshadowed by a much smaller, bright red & yellow sign below it, pointing us where we need to ... Hip-hop and house music are a lot closer than you might think. Sure, they occupy very different cultural spaces and from a commercial standpoint and the two industries work in very different ways. Still, the origins of both genres share a lot in common. And guess what, a surprising amount of well known house and dance music DJs started out by doing hip-hop beats, some even still do both. House Vs Techno: What Is The Real Difference?

Now this may seem like a really stupid question. Most people definitely think they know the answer. When you push them for specific criteria, however, it all gets a little fuzzy. It seems that how we decide whether a track is techno or house depends largely on a kind of sixth sense which is hard articulate. Perhaps back in the eighties in Chicago and Detroit, making the distinction was slightly easier but in 2016 it seems the vast majority of club-orientated dance music could quite arguably be both. Of course a wise response would be ‘does it really matter?’ As long ... Read more

Justice: A Ten Track History

In the two-thousands, Parisian duo Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay, (aka Justice) were the poster boys for a whole new movement in electronic music. Undisputed top of the pile at Ed Banger records and leaders of the electro-house movement coming out of France. By 2010 they were selling out stadiums and bridging the gap between glitchy house music and hairy-faced prog-rock. During the twenty-tens, however, Justice’s impact was all to quickly forgotten and the fanbase dispersed heading either in the direction of more serious dance music or off into the overly dramatic world of EDM. This Friday the two ... Read more

Preview: All We Want Festival 2016

To those who have never raved at AWW, we’d like to provide you our insight on the festival’s experience. Upon arrival, you’ll enter a small, cosy town blazoned with relaxing vibes and 1969 Woodstock nostalgia. The spacious park allows ravers to chill, dance, and enlighten their inner-social-butterfly, while the beautiful surroundings invite everyone to soak up a holiday feeling. As for the stages – each one has its own comfort and aesthetic. At one moment you may feel like a modern-day raver version of St. Francis of Assisi, partying alongside a 12th century monastery, while another moment you’ll be shuffling the sand between your toes inside of what seems to be Wilbur’s Barn. At night, sand footsie in the barn is still ... Read more

Little is known of what actually transpired, but in short, Moon Boots became a sentient creature, equipped with reason, intuition, and groove. Finding solace in the soothing sounds of underground disco and R&B boogie records, Moon Boots knew it was only of matter of time before he was “hung up” like so many of his ... Read more

Review: Jonny Cade – AddVice EP

Mr. Cade in the house again, this time with another booming EP that is packing some serious heat. With throbbing bass sounds, housey hooks and a garage coating, ‘AddVice EP’ is another winner by the budding young Brit. Cade was raised on the sounds of the vibrant UK underground style in London, after which he pointed his arrows to house, successfully intertwining it with his earlier tastes in the electronic. Since then, Jonny didn’t have a moments rest, with releases on 2020Vision, Kolour, Moodmusic and gigs across Europe, this cheerful Southern Englander has been making a real name for himself ...
