Premiere: OFF feat. Sven Väth – Electrica Salsa (Henrik Schwarz Dub)

Oh boi. The impeccable Henrik Schwarz redubs Sven Väth’s classic ‘Electrica Salsa’ – a truly remarkable feat. The track was first released back in 1986, when Sven (at the age of 21) was a member of Frankfurt project OFF, alongside Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti. ‘Electrica Salsa (Baba Baba)’ changed the face of electronic music in European pop culture, achieving top three success in France, Austria and Germany at a time when dance music was still regarded as an underground movement from Detroit and Chicago. Fast forward 30 years later, Sven enlisted Henrik Schwarz and Roman Flügel to provide remixes of the track. ... Read more

Ascribing his DJ name to the translation of ‘rich lake’, Berlin-based Baikal provides a mix to showcase his multi-layered sound. It’s one best described as electronic music for the heart, mind and feet. Known for the various outstanding remixes he’s done for names such as Ian Pooley of Innervisions or Isolee of Tamed Musiq, his musical mindset is best portrayed on his original release for Maeve (a collaboration between Mano Le Tough and The Drifter).  With enough experience in the studio, behind the decks, and gigs across the hotspots in Europe, USA and the UK – Baikal delivers a philosophy easily heard in his mixes. He recently released ... Read more

David August Drops First Solo Production In 2 Years

Hooking up with Counter Records (under the Ninja Tune umbrella) David August has just released his first solo material in nearly two years. Last heard on Innervisions with his “Epikur” EP, the new two-tracker, which will release tomorrow, ‘J.B.Y./Ouvert’ sees August back in top form. Below, anticipating the release, is August’s Soundcloud stream of ‘J.B.Y.’ who’s official press release describes as: “This isn’t house music, this isn’t the clubs, this isn’t the places August has been hitherto. ‘J.B.Y.’ resolves not with an explosive “moment” but with delicately beautiful Erased Tapes-esque piano introspection and the evocation of tape-hiss drenched ambience.” Check ... Hear Dixon’s Givenchy Runway Soundtrack From Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week may be a lot of things, but underground electronic music locale is not necessarily one of them. That said, it came with a certain surprise when it was announced Innervsions‘ main man and RA’s reigning #1 DJ Dixon supplied the soundtrack to the 2016/17 Givenchy fall and winter men’s showcase. Following Givenchy’s tapping of The Martinez Brothers at their 2014 and 2015 events, the French design house has now been a strong supporter of the connection between electronic music and fashion. With this year’s collection holding dark tones and pops of patterns and color, the well received (we’ll take ... Read more

Mix #180 By Aera

When you send out the first demo of your life, to only a handful of people, and the demo is immediately signed by one of them, and the name of the label is Innervisions, you know you must have done something right. This is exactly what happened to Aera in 2014.  Aera alias Ralf Schmidt was born in northern Germany in the mid 80’s, in a small, grey town just in between the Baltic and the North Sea. In the early 90’s, when one of the first waves of house and techno swept the suburbs, young Aera was right there ... Read more

Extravaganza Records welcomes back Italian producer Sam Halvag with his Alignment EP, this time backed with an a remix feature from Innervisions artist Peter Pardeike. After experiencing a set from Jeff Mills in the early nineties he took up DJing and producing. After leaving his design company, the question arose what he would be doing next. By that time, he already started to collaborate with Innervisions’ Marcus Worgull, with whom he produced the track ... Read more

Minimal Effort Podcast By Agoria

Sébastien Devaud, aka Agoria, entered the world of electronic dance music at a peculiar moment in time. Unlike the first generation of techno producers, he’s too young to have been actively listening to early 80’s electronic pop by groups such as Depeche Mode or New Order. But unlike younger DJs and musicians, he’s been exposed to house and techno more or less since the start of these genres.  On the 31st of October, Agoria will be headlining Minimal Effort’s Halloween celebration in LA. Based in Los Angeles, prominent event organizer Minimal Effort will be returning this Halloween on a mission ... Read more
