February will host two important musical dates for indie electronic acts, as right after the recent announcement of Bonobo’s new tour, the news went down on The XX marking the new dates of their upcoming tour, that reaches Amsterdam on the 13th of February. Few moments after Bonobo announced his new concert tour dates for the upcoming album Migration by releasing it’s first new single Kerala, landing him in Amsterdam’s concert institution and a former church Paradiso on the 20th of February, tickets were fully sold out. Unsurprisingly, considering the enormous fan base and the habits of this far ahead planning society, minutes matter ... Read more

Interview: Jackmaster

An artist is a stunt without his philosophy. Meanwhile, how many dance music artists even have a philosophy? Can there be a substantial philosophy behind DJing? As can this craft even be called art? Furthermore, how many of the times we go to parties and gigs, do we go for the DJ, who’s philosophy, personality and approach to music we are aware of? Furthermore, admire. This interview reveals one of Jack Revill, AKA Jackmaster. Today Jackmaster’s over ten years spanning career has led to his latest (and one of very few) release on K7’s prestigious DJ-Kicks series (out on July 8). Drawing ... Read more

Party Report: Adriatique (All Night)

Last Saturday saw Amsterdam’s NGHTDVSN & De Marktkantine  host one of dance music’s finest duos, Adriatique who graced a packed crowd with, what was surely, a very special open to close set. The Swiss Adrians have been nothing short of a phenomenon since joining forces in 2008. They have released on a who’s who of the world’s finest labels including their native city’s Cityfox, Brooklyn’s Wolf + Lamb, and, of course, Solomun’s mighty Diynamic, of which they are a seminal member of the family (and thus, no strangers to the city of Amsterdam). This was the first time I had experienced Adriatique ... Read more

Report: Pitch Festival 2015

Last weekend saw the fifth edition of Amsterdam’s beloved Pitch Festival. Held at Westergasfabriek, the festival, known for the best and newest crossover acts and DJ’s, delivered what was promised. As Saturday, 4 July was one of the hottest days we have had in Western Europe the past few years, we tried not to burn ourselves out too early, arriving around 4 pm. After a long warm up from Woody, an unsung hero of the Berlin underground, moving the crowd at the sunny Kaap stage, I though it was high time to check out the rest of the event. The whole design at Pitch is always outstanding and aesthetically ... Four Tet & Skrillex Went B2B Last Weekend And Apparently It Was A Rager

In one of the more unlikely live collaborations to come in recent memory, news of a Four Tet and Skrillex B2B set from the Eat Your Own Ears event at Camden Town’s intimate Underground (a heavy metal friendly venue whose recent bookings include “Ohio’s Blackened Heavy Metallers” SKELETONWITCH) made headlines in the wee hours of Easter’s morning after. Neither Four Tet nor Skrillex are any strangers to collaboration, with the former having played with everyone from Floating Points to Jamie xx (recently unleashing a mid-year candidate for Essential Mix of the Year), and the latter touring the world with Diplo as the ...
