The two protagonists of Internationally acclaimed documentary ‘Raving Iran’ are finally coming to Amsterdam for a special screening, Q&A, and nightclub event. Happening on 8 July at the Dutch Capital’s Undercurrent, the duo of Blade & Beard are set launch their Futurist imprint with their first release. 3 Iranian Alternative Musicians Jailed For Distributing Underground Music

“Insulting Islamic sanctities”, “spreading propaganda against the system” and “illegal audio-visual activities”; these are the charges faced by Mehdi and Hossein Rajabian (26 and 31), and their friend Yousef Emadi (35) two musicians and a film-maker. The trio have just been sentenced to 3 years in prison for the online distribution of underground music, and with no access to legal representation, their trial was quick and one-sided. Stockholm’s (by way of Iran) Aril Brikha has never been one to conform to the musical trends of the day. Brikha demonstrated his musicality early; at seven, given a keyboard; in his early teens developed an interest in electronic music – Depeche Mode, Front 242 and Jean Michel Jarre.
