Report: 25 Years Of Sonar

by Rick Heffernan There is nowhere quite like Barcelona and there is nothing quite like Sonar, the two combined for the past 25 years have pushed the Catalan capitals cultural agenda through the roof, whilst placing Sonar firmly as a world festival leader in terms of advanced culture, creativity, tech and music built on a firm foundation of pure electronica. More popular than ever it has morphed from a one-day party started by friends in 1994 into a three day, two-night monstrosity that just hosted over 126,000 visitors from 119 countries at this years silver anniversary edition. Split into a ... Read more

[Photo Report] SXM Festival 2017

March 2017 marks the second edition of SXM Festival. A first year edition in an unknown territory is never easy, but the organisation did a hell of a job managing it under all circumstances. This year they had us amazed again, and certainly topped last year. The set up and stage design was out of this world and also the Mayer Sound System was spot on. Here a foto report by Ded Agency from SXM Festival 2017. A full written report on our experiences coming to you soon. Featured Image: Ded Agency for SXM Festival

Making Magic: Manifesting Burning Man & Beyond

I believe in magic again. I wrote that in capitol letters in the bottom of my journal entry my last morning at Burning Man. My heart was full of joy in a way I have not experienced before in my life. For eight days I was surrounded by art, culture, conversation, friendship, and curiosity. I’d been to many festivals and I’ve never experienced a more engaged and immersive environment than Black Rock City. On my last day I was excited to return to my home in Los Angeles and take the lessons I had learned into the world. See, I ... Read more

Report: Kappa Futur Festival 2016

Kappa Futur is about one thing: techno. The festival has one large main hanger that sees thousands of people all pay pilgrimage to the finest techno DJs of the day. They worship at the raised DJ alter in baking sun and have done so for years now. Back once again in 2016 to take over Turin, the festival boasted a bigger and better line-up than ever before. As well as the on main hanger, there is also a second stage that often plays home to the Kings of House, a super group of legendary house music DJs who play hit ... Read more

DGTL Festival 2015 Report: Sunday

About a week ago DGTL kicked off the festival season and it was a blast. Enough time to retrospect on the two day event. Here’s day two of the festival report. The easter sunday started with quite a long train ride for me. I spent the weekend in Germany, got into the train to Amsterdam, put on my headphones to get into the mood and tried to rest before kicking of the festival season. After a strange train ride, a fight between a ticket controller and passenger included, I finally arrived in Amsterdam. First good sign: the sun is shining, which ... Read more

Report: A Weekend In Ibiza

Although technically not over yet, summer seemed far away in Amsterdam the last weeks of August. And even though I had my fair share of festivals over the last couple of months, I couldn’t think of a better destination than Ibiza for a nice combo of beach and beats. The adventure started Friday afternoon and standing right behind Ferry Corsten when boarding the aircraft left no room for error this was the right flight. At the Ibiza airport big billboards invited me to come and see shows of Avicii, Afrojack and Steve Aoki, but unfortunately for them I had other ... Read more

Report: Straf_Werk Festival

As Amsterdam plowed through merely a dozen festivals this past summer all of which with immense line-ups, perfect weather and people buzzin’ with the excitement of the fresh air, the end of August meant one thing and one thing only: it was time for one of Amsterdam’s fastest growing brand to leave its mark as Straf_Werk Festival was about to open its gates for the second time. We found ourselves walking towards a remote location, closing in to the suburbs. It’s a place in Amsterdam that breathes tranquility and peace. On this particular August day that was radically changed when ... Read more

Loveland Festival 2014 Report

Summer’s end is upon us, but the dutch won’t give up on their summer so easily. August is one of the busiest months when it comes to open air festivals. After seeing and reading about the three days of Dekmantel, it was time to turn our eyes and ears towards one of Holland’s pioneering dance music organizations. Established back in 1995, Loveland to this date maintained their vision of bringing people together through love and music in a formatted environment. Over the past weekend, the lake by the Sloterpark transformed into a playground for music crusaders where music and nature secured the ring for ... Read more

DGTL Festival Report: Day 2

It’s been a week since DGTL Festival and we’re still recovering from the madness that weekend. Time to wind back and share our experiences. Here’s day 2 of our DGTL Festival report, this time through the eyes of our very own Philippe Stalder. As we feasted away the night at the after party on Saturday night, our knees were a bit shaky and our brains a bit dizzy when we got into the line to jump on the N.D.S.M. ferry that took us to day 2 of DGTL Festival. After kicking back a couple of early beers we were on ... Read more

DGTL Festival Report: Day 1

It’s been a week since DGTL Festival and we’re still recovering from the madness that weekend. Time to wind back and share our experiences. Here’s day 1 of our DGTL Festival report by Vlad Hatze. 10 AM, day before Easter, no chance I’m staying home. Wake up, wash my face, eat a bunch of cereal as you’re not going to come home for the next 2 days, say your prayer, arrange your take away “food” and out the door. One short bus ride and then you start hearing it. Across the river, the party is already on its way. The ... Read more
