ADE Report: DGTL, NGHTDVSN & Loveland,

Last week it was time for the 19th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event. More than 300.000 electronic music fans washed over Holland’s capital in search of their favourite DJ. Choosing from the list of over 450 parties with almost 2.500 artists is always one of most difficult tasks of the year. This time the combination of line-ups, friends, guest lists and fate brought me to DGTL, NGHTDVSN and Loveland. Although ADE officially kicked off on Wednesday, my first event was on Thursday. DGTL organized three nights at the NDSM shipyard and for the first one they had invited Life ... Read more

Exclusive Interview With H.O.S.H.

Despite Berlin’s ambiguous allure of house and techno, Germany embraces a more transcendent side of electronic music where lower bpm’s and emotions texture its own music persona. Numerous labels and artists portray the everlasting sounds and among those lines, Diynamic has crafted its own autograph on todays dance music. H.O.S.H., real name Holger Behn, is one of Hamburg’s key dance music personas and is considered the showpiece of the label he’s representing. Throughout the years, H.O.S.H. conveyed the city of Hamburg into his own musical playground, a place where he magnets his inspiration by giving house music some flavour to ... Read more

Exclusive Interview With Solomun

He is running one of the most popular deep house projects today while also been a respected producer and outstanding DJ in the community. My summer this year started with Fusion Festival, where Mladen Solomun kicked off in the afternoon on the first day. An army existing out of a couple thousand people, a mishmash of hippies, clubbers, in-crowd and loonies were all dancing to his relentlessly pounding grooves, giving you little time to relax your muscles, let alone getting a new beer at the bar. This Hamburg-based, but Bosnian-rooted is on a quest to conquer a bigger and bigger ... Read more

Report: A Weekend In Ibiza

Although technically not over yet, summer seemed far away in Amsterdam the last weeks of August. And even though I had my fair share of festivals over the last couple of months, I couldn’t think of a better destination than Ibiza for a nice combo of beach and beats. The adventure started Friday afternoon and standing right behind Ferry Corsten when boarding the aircraft left no room for error this was the right flight. At the Ibiza airport big billboards invited me to come and see shows of Avicii, Afrojack and Steve Aoki, but unfortunately for them I had other ... Read more

Loveland Festival 2014 Report

Summer’s end is upon us, but the dutch won’t give up on their summer so easily. August is one of the busiest months when it comes to open air festivals. After seeing and reading about the three days of Dekmantel, it was time to turn our eyes and ears towards one of Holland’s pioneering dance music organizations. Established back in 1995, Loveland to this date maintained their vision of bringing people together through love and music in a formatted environment. Over the past weekend, the lake by the Sloterpark transformed into a playground for music crusaders where music and nature secured the ring for ... Read more

Hamburg’s based house music label Diynamic is one of Europe’s success stories in modern day house music. The label was founded in 2006 and currently holds 15 artists, hosts the weekly success nights Diynamic Neon Nights at Sankeys in Ibiza during the summer and now gives way to its 70th (!) release by label head honcho’s Mladen Solumun or Solomun, who gives us another delight of his endless musical talent in the form of the Samson EP. The BPM Festival Report – Part Two

Here’s part two of our coverage on the BPM Festival, with Viva Warriors, Boiler Room, a jungle rave.. Viva BPM! If you haven’t read part one yet, do that first: PART I on BPM Festival It was kind of a rough night after the Circoloco and Pets Recordings party, but we just couldn’t miss the already legendary afternoon Life & Death party. We actually started off by watching it on be-at.tv as some work had to be finished, but when Tale Of Us came on stage we rushed over to there immediatly. Naturally the place was packed, but the vibe ... Read more

Valhalla Festival 2013 Report

Prior to the festivities you all are so familiar with, in the South of Amsterdam in a place called RAI, the organizers of Valhalla revealed a festival that was beyond any expectation. Follow The Path To Valhalla

Last year, around this time, Amsterdam was introduced to a new winter festival. It was one of BIG proportions, bringing together different crowds and styles of house and techno. They created a vibe that was larger than that of a good party; there was something more going on that night. There was a state of Valhalla. Next week, on Saturday December 21st, the organization is back for their second edition, ‘Valhalla, A Bizarre Ride’ which will again take place in the only venue that can handle the ambitions of an event like this: The Amsterdam RAI. The RAI will be turned ... Read more

Top 5 Vote Requests For The RA ‘Best DJ’ Poll

Last week the Resident Advisor voting polls opened up for the people’s opinion on who is the Best DJ and Live Act of 2013. Since its initiation back in 2006 the RA list of the creme de la creme in the scene has grown both in reverence and controversy, spawning more inflammable discussions on the ranking each year. No wonder that artists are promoting themselves on social media, trying to get a lead on the competition by encouraging people to cast their vote. A vote for them, preferably. Although most DJs keep it simple and humble, some choose to get a ... Read more

Exclusive interview with H.O.S.H.

He is renowned as one of the leading innovators, functions as one of the indispensable pillars of the Diynamic family and has enough interesting solo projects planned that some people would need two lifetime’s for to achieve. His second raison d’être is producing music of the future, never letting musical categorisations or the status-quo be an impediment for his creativity. We had a little chit chat with the German all-star, and discussed matters like his successful new ‘Forever Young’ adventure, how to stay fresh ... Read more

A Visit To The Future

Now there are a lot of good quality festivals, however, Welcome to the Future, is really in a league of its own. Not only because of the incredible line-up, carrying some of the most renowned artists, but because of the crowd as well. People weren’t there for the perfect weather (thanks again God!), to just hang out or to check out all the beautiful people. They were there for the music and it seemed like everybody knew exactly who was playing where and what they wanted to see and dance to. It made me happy, because that’s becoming rare nowadays. ...
