Report: Straf_Werk @ Scheepsbouwloods – 2 December

The water’s got an icy gloom, you can see your breath and you’re waiting impatiently for the ferry arrive to take you across the water. Usually the concept of being freezing & anticipating my night out would deter me slightly, but all these factors added to the excitement. 95% of people are all in the same boat, pardon the pun, then a mass herd of people eagerly scuttle off the ferry to the entrance of STRAF_WERK – Scheepsbouwloods. For some reason I didn’t expect the venue to be as big or as cool as it was, despite the fact each ... Read more

Party Report: Amsterdam Open Air 2016

Needless to say Amsterdam Open Air Festival got really lucky with the weather on both of its days, as it tends to do year in and year out. Saturday seemed to lean slightly more towards hip-hop, pop and Caribbean electronic music acts, however there was always the Straf_Werk stage to run to for all the true house aficionados. The line-up was solid: Finnebassen started, with Jonas Rathsman following up with an unusually light set for him, perfectly fitting for the midday. He was followed by, apparently, a great fit of Nuno Dos Santos and Tsepo playing a B2B sunset set, finished ... Read more

Interview: Tensnake

Tensnake made his name with the huge 2010 dancefloor smash hit ‘Coma Cat’, and since then has been in ever increasing demand. When Tensnake first appeared on the scene, his early releases were seen as a welcome antidote to the omnipresent minimal house scene of the time. Effortlessly managing the elusive feat of marrying classic disco and house influences to a contemporary sound, Tensnake is in that very rare position where his music appeals equally to the biggest dancefloors, from Ibiza and Miami, to real chin-stroking aficionados. Considered a “producer’s producer”, Tensnake’s music effortlessly transcends genres, showing a musical intellect ... Read more
