It’s been 2 weeks since we came back from Portugal and we’re still buzzing from BPM’s first edition in Europe. The festival’s maiden edition on the continent took place in Portimão, a touristic seaside town. The main season for beach-goers is over which provides the perfect backdrop for BPM. We arrive on Thursday and set out to explore its daytime beach parties. The three main venues hosting daytime events are Blanco Beach, Cloque and NoSoloÁgua. We decide to head to the latter. Editor’s Note:  We acknowledge the tragic events that occurred on The BPM Festival’s final day. The decision to continue posting on our own experiences at the festival, which were overwhelmingly positive, was one carefully considered. The BPM Festival Shooting: What We Know

After a lone gunman opened fire at The BPM Festival’s Elrow event at Blue Parrot in the early hours of Monday morning, the festival itself has released a heartbreaking statement trying to clarify the ongoing, fluid situation: “It is with great sadness to share that police have confirmed reports of a lone shooter outside the Blue Parrot nightclub in Playa Del Carmen earlier today, which resulted in four fatalities and 12 injured.
