Last year, Amsterdam based creative coder Sander Sneek released Soundscape VR; a synthesizer that lives within the virtual reality environment.

Now, with new technology Oculus Rift CV1 and the Leap Motion Orion Hand Tracker, integrating their own virtual reality capabilities, users are able to play the synthesizer with their hands while in VR. Though still a work in progress, based on the video below, Sneek’s hand tracking capabilities seem to be on the right path.

So far, Soundscape allows users to add musical notes on huge virtual screens, change effects and influence the characteristics of one of three instruments. You can even play along with up to 2 randomly selected users in a full on virtual reality jam session.
