12inchCity Presents ‘In Retraite’ Festival, Set In Historic Monastery
From the 8th to the 11th of July, dance lovers can rejoice at the brand new In Retraite festival initiative, which is to take place at the old Maria Roepaen monastery in Ottersum, Limburg. The festival is based on a collaboration of 17(!) host-promoters from all corners of the Netherlands that will all bring along their finest artists in house and techno along for a southbound festival week to remember.
The setting that the organisation behind the festival, 12inchCity, is going for is crystal clear: the festival needs to breathe the laidback atmosphere of a sun-drenched beach in Thailand, while at night, the monastery will be transformed into a sweaty nightclub with an underground feel. The music will correspond with this setup, so expect relaxing beats during the day, and something more heavy after the sun has set. Treat yourself to yoga-sessions, hot tubs, group games, massages and much more during the day – all hosted by the Chocolate Club – to replenish your energy and prepare for another night or partying.
Some of the promoters that will host stages at In Retraite are Arnhem’s leftfield-focused organisation 8BAHN, Amsterdam’s uncut house institute Tomorrow Is Now Kid!, District25, known for its The Crave parties in the Hague, Groningen’s club, festival organiser and all-round collective of dance professionals Paradigm and Amsterdam’s upcoming party instigators Festimi. Other organisations involved are Atomic, Donker Collectief, Cult, Industrial Chaos, Pablo Discobar, Radio Galaxy, RUIS and Studio Sonsbeek.
The artists, lined up during In Retraite, then, leave little more to be wanted: Funkineven, Florian Kupfer, Mattheis, Reza Athar, Love over Entropy, Deniro, Cinnaman, Alex Salvador, Daan Groeneveld, Dax J will be soundtracking the weekend, ranging from disco, to house and deep house to techno.
The competitively priced tickets are on sale as we speak. Early ticket buyers have the advantage of being able to pick out the best spots on the campsite. So don’t wait too long.
