Once a niche activity, partying and clubbing has etched itself into the mainstream psyche. More than ever before holiday makers are centering their travels not just around festivals, but famous club nights and parties. With this in mind, we’ve put together our ultimate bucket list of some of the best events happening across globe, from old established favourites to some newer kids on the block currently making waves.

#20 – Revolver Sundays [Melbourne]

If you ask anyone in the know in Melbourne to recommend you the best party in the city, chances are they’re going to send you off up that infamous Revolver staircase on a Sunday. And with good reason; the club’s all day party is one of the world’s most unique clubbing experiences. As Revolver itself puts it, their Sunday party is “tight like family, welcoming like long lost friends and moved by a ceaselessly throbbing beat provided by Melbourne’s best DJs”.

#19/18 – Tief/Trouble Vision [London]
Technically two separate nights, but running more like a family business than individual club promoters, Tief and Trouble Vision are very much two sides of the same coin. With some of the finest lineups in the UK, both parties are nothing if not an eclectic, quality, underground showcase of both emerging talent and well-known selectors. Calling Corisca Studios’ home take advantage of one of London’s finest, regularly tuned Funktion One systems and an impassioned, knowledgeable crowd. Outside of London, both are regular fixtures around the world, be it a boat, beach or the back of a mountaintop hummer where the good vibes and quality music are just as well received.

kinky disco

#17 – Kinky Disco [Cape Town]
“We take fun seriously.” Having established itself on the shores of Cape Town since 2006 and growing exponentially as each summer passes, Kinky Disco sits at the top of the list of parties you must do in South Africa. Every event Kinky has thrown since its inception has been sold out without fail. Tropical themes and secret venues across house/deep house and tech floors adjudicated by SA’s top talents behind the decks coupled with the occasional international artist makes it the country’s #1 party.

#16 – We Love… [Ibiza]
Now in its 15th year, this is the only party you need to think about on Sunday in Ibiza. Each room has something to offer, with artists like Groove Armada and Fatboy Slim sharing the club with techno selectors like Machinedrum, Blawan and Agoria, whilst PBR Streetgang can be found busting out disco treats over in El Salon and Mr Doris and After Dark make the Sunset Terrace groove to some of the only dub, d’n’b and reggae on the island. Head over to the right hand bar in Space’s legendary Terraza and rub shoulders with some of the industry’s finest, or blow your top smack dab in the center of Space’s massive Discoteca. You simply can’t go wrong.

pacha sydney

#15 – Pacha Sydney [Sydney]
When Pacha rolled into town during October of 2012 it wasn’t without its detractors. How could a party of such grand scale which boasts professional dancers, aerialists, street performers, psychedelic projections and lighting and a lineup of Australian and international talent be successful week in, week out? But sure enough, a year later, Pacha Sydney – which takes over the stunning ivy venue every week – has become one of the city’s true clubbing success stories. Hundreds of punters partying away in the heaving ivy courtyard every Saturday night can’t be wrong.

#14 – Sensation [USA]
The popular worldwide tour fuses stunning lights, pyrotechnics and live acrobatic performances with some of the music world’s biggest names. After making stops in San Francisco, Las Vegas and Miami as part of its inaugural US tour, Sensation celebrated its 100th show last month at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. A sea of people dressed in white filled the floor as tens of thousands danced the night away at this one-of-a-kind audio and visual experience.

#13 – Lovelife [San Diego]
What was only supposed to be a single party has turned into a movement. Our friends at Lovelife have managed to cultivate a thriving music scene in San Diego, putting a city not historically known for having a strong electronic music presence onto the worldwide clubbing map. Their signature parties combine playful themes, exciting musical programming and an overall great time. Some highlights from their summer and fall seasons have included their Sexmas in July Party with Tone of Arc, Jungle of Love with Blond:ish, ‘2 Years of Peace, Love, and Sex’ featuring Art Department, and their spooky Hallowoogie Boat Cruise this Halloween.

Music On

#12 – Music On [Ibiza]
Without a doubt, this is the hottest party going in Ibiza, and with two new winter Music On residencies for Marco Carola and crew in both Miami and New York, it just might be the hottest party in the world. Week after week, throngs of devoted fans flock to Amnesia’s fabled terrace to watch the Italian techno god play tricks on the mind until the sun shines through the terrace’s windowed roof. Marco has become one of the last bastions on the island for marathon sets, playing 6-plus hours each Friday with his signature brand of funky minimal with shades of melancholic melodies. It’s all about the music.

#11 – Grand Park Sunday Sessions [L.A.]
Carefully curated by Eduardo Castillo and the Eclectech, Sunday Sessions is a free concert series held in downtown Los Angeles’ Grand Park. Taking place on the last Sunday of each summer month, the party hosts a selection of local and international DJs and producers such as No Regular Play, Audiofly, Francis Harris, Bob Moses, and Acid Pauli. The added addition of local food trucks and cocktails served by Pattern Bar makes for a Sunday picnic vibe with a delectably electronic twist.

#10 – Electric Island [Toronto]
This summer there was a new major player in Toronto. Electric Island, a concert and picnic series that debuted this year, brought international names such as Seth Troxler, Sasha, Audiofly and Hot Since 82 as well as local artists like Nitin and My Favorite Robot to Toronto’s beautiful Olympic Island, together with stunning views of the water and the city skyline. The series took place across four Mondays this year, celebrating some of Canada’s summer holidays.

in motion

#9 – In:Motion [Bristol]
Bristol’s musical resurgence in the past couple of years can be directly put down to at least one party; In:Motion. Taking residence at Motion skate park, In:Motion takes over for 12 weeks at the end of the year and truly brings the rave. Noisy, fun and colourful, In:Motion make sure the party is set to 11, with a musical program to do it equal justice. Before the year is out, LFO, Fatboy Slim, Floating Points, Andy C and Roy Ayres will all be heading to Bristol…you only need to go once to see why.

#8 – All Day I Dream [USA]
Partly inspired by Burning Man, Lee Burridge first kicked of his monthly party in New York a few years ago. Since then, ADID has grown to grace dreamers in Los Angeles, at the Miami WMC, Montreal and even Mexico’s famed BPM with its magical presence. This past summer, Burridge made ADID a monthly recurrence in Brooklyn and LA. Each party was held in an outdoor venue decorated with an array of brightly colored ornaments hanging above the crowd blowing in the summer breeze. Every party features extended sets from Burridge himself and serves to be both aesthetically and thoughtfully pleasing, creating nothing but good vibes for everyone in attendance.

agwa yacht club

#7 – Agwa Yacht Club [Sydney]
If you live in Sydney and have a penchant for house, techno or disco, chances are you’ve been aboard The Starship for the infamous Agwa Yacht Club, which sets sail on the beautiful Sydney Harbour several times every summer. Now entering its 5th year and 18th edition this December, Agwa’s formula is simple yet effective; host a selection of international and local DJs to spin summery disco and house on the outdoor top deck, and tougher house and techno grooves on the lower main floor. The result? A raucous afternoon of clubbing that’s earned a solid reputation as the best boat party in Australia…perhaps even the world.

#6 – Trouw [Amsterdam]
There are certain clubs that have earned a particular respect around the world, the type of clubs that you need only spend a short amount of time in to realise that you are somewhere magically unique. On top of almost unsurpassable sound, unique yet intuitive layout, and music from the world’s best, Trouw carries a special, close knit vibe reserved for venues half the size. This certainly isn’t luck, as the club is built upon a strong network of residents who all have input in the club’s musical direction and help create a real sense of family, highlighted with Sunday morning breakfasts allowing crew and performers alike to hang out for a post club get together. And when you’re sat at the top of the stairs and the club is illuminated as the spotlights blast on, it’s clear that this is somewhere very, very special.

#5 – Carl Cox: The Revolution [Ibiza]
Oh yes, oh yes! One night at this over the top fiesta reads like a small festival. 2013 Highlight? When Nic Fanciulli went back-to-back with Cox in a surprise throwdown on the Terraza (where Cox never plays). Couple the incredible star power this party brings each week with one of the most breathtaking productions the island has to offer, Coxy’s larger than life personality and the best promotion team there is, and you wind up with one of the most consistently wild, busy and incredibly fun nights the world over.

#4 – Robot Heart [New York]
They may be best known for their legendary week-long party at Burning Man each year, but Robot Heart’s New York events are nothing short of spectacular and should not be overlooked. Robot Heart has created a special community of like-minded individuals who come together with open hearts and minds. Guests come decked out in costumes to their Spring Party, Into the Wormhole, and Halloween extravaganza every fall. Robot Heart parties are consistently next level, challenging the norm and taking partygoers on a journey into another world.

#3 – Circoloco [Ibiza]
Over the past 13+ years, this legendary Monday morning session at DC 10 has grown from humble beginnings of a small collection of hardcore ravers into one of the most revered parties in Ibiza, perhaps even the whole world of electronic music. Helping to explode the careers of the likes of Matthias Tanzmann, Loco Dice and Luciano, the sheer energy, atmosphere and dancefloor hedonism that this party brings is the stuff of legend. Plauged by a series of legal issues and closures in 2008-9, Circoloco has come back stronger than ever, cementing itself as a clubbing pilgrimage for clubbers the world over.

#2 – Sacbe [Playa Del Carmen]
Anthony Middleton’s legendary secret (or not-so-secret) jungle party takes place in a picturesque old temple in a small eco-friendly community just outside of Playa del Carmen in Mexico. Attracting like-minded individuals and some of the world’s biggest DJs who play for free to raise money for charity, Sacbe aims to create an environment that “fuses everything you liked about being a child, with everything you like about being a grown-up.” Since its inception a few years ago, the Sacbe has bloomed into on of the world’s most unique and must attend parties.

#1 – Klubnacht @ Panoramabar/Berghain [Berlin]
There’s a reason why over the years Panorama bar has pushed the closing time further back, allowing club goers to easily miss the morning commuter work rush so they can wait till things have calmed down a little before rejoining the real world. This is because Panorama is somewhere that people don’t want to leave and won’t unless they absolutely have to. Anyone who has previously spent time living in Berlin and visiting Panorama almost religiously will attest to the fact that it takes time to appreciate ‘normal’ clubbing again. The sheer revere in which the club is held means DJs leave even their A game at home, bringing something truly special for the moment they step into that booth (often with unfortunate consequences for fans who happen to see them play elsewhere). Add to this the incredible sound, perfect layout, theshutters and the world’s best residents and it’s easy to see why Panorama Bar has surpassed many peoples view of ‘best club in the world,’ and become something far more important indeed.
