Aidan Lavelle & Robbie Akbal ft. Shawni – Stars (André Hommen Rmx)
Culprit breaks open the fall/winter season with a fabulous new release by London’s Aidan Lavelle, Mexico’s Robbie Akbal and Los Angeles’ own, vocalist Shawni. ‘Stars’ its remix honours have befallen André Hommen, who has turned the original into an epic burner that is both dance floor proof as well as a groover suited for the comfort of your living room. Be the first to hear it here.
The song organically sprung out of Culprit’s second release of 2014, Balcazar & Sordo, Dance Spirit and disCerN’s “Calling For You,” which also featured Shawni’s ethereal vocals and an Aidan Lavelle remix.
Over the summer Lavelle has joined forces with Robbie Akbal – a veteran of the deep house scene and the owner of the widely respected label bearing his name. Their first song together, “Solaris Night,” has made an impression on Get Physical’s “Full Body Workout.” With Shawni’s sultry vocals the centerpiece, the track has the shimmering melodic quality, creating the open-air, nocturnal ambiance befitting the song’s title.
André Hommen’s life script has steadily continued to build traction with house music at it’s center. He is part of the administrative and creative team behind Dennis Ferrer’s New York City based Objektivity imprint and has had the opportunity to develop projects by artists including Ferrer, Argy and The Martinez Brothers. In collaboration with the producer Gorge of the 8bit label from Mannheim, André Hommen’s first release for Objektivity was created. His acclaimed debut title “Marashi” from 2009 was one of the most played tracks of the year. His followup track on the legendary label Plastic City, “Hakunyo” was also charted heavily. In 2014 he released “The Bottom Line EP” on Objektivity, regularly played by Ame, Solomun, Maceo Plex, Dennis Ferrer and countless others. Following up, his remix to Ane Brun’s “To Let Myself Go” was received with equal acclaim by artists and the public.
André Hommen’s stunning take on “Stars” is but one of many good things to come in the coming months and the new year. “Stars EP” is out November 10th on Culprit LA.
