The LA-based imprint Culprit, founded by the DJ/producer trio Droog, is known for their careful selection of funky and modernistic underground house music. @Culpritla has released records for distinguished and celebrated names like Lee Foss, Lee Curtiss, Jamie Jones, MANIK, Kenneth James Gibson, Seth Troxler, Inxec, Matt Tolfrey, Subb-an, Martin Buttrich, Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves, Soul Clap, Tanner Ross, jozif and many more. The latter has now hooked up a damn fine mixtape full of the deepest and sexiest tunes to tingle your ears.

After breaking through with standout releases on labels like Wolf & Lamb back in 2010, the last few years have seen Londoner jozif cement himself as a unique musical voice in the world of house and techno. Far from just programming beats that make you jack, his music have a certain beauty to it as well, built on lush string arrangements, emotive pianos and harmonic synth work all coming together into soundscapes that will warm your soul.

Building on the early success of releases like the Sunrise EP on Infine, the first releases on Fist or Finger (the label he co-runs with fabric’s Craig Richards) and the summer anthem that was Twilight with vocalist Terri Walker on More Music, jozif was unsurprisingly snapped up by LA’s suitably sultry Culprit for a brace of EPs that saw him further hone his richly musical style. Since then he has been enlisted by the cultured likes of mobilee, Suol and Compost for remixes, and the way he carefully permeates his music with such serene and slo-mo ambiance yet imbues each track with a cheeky dancefloor bump has seen everyone from Sasha to Art Department, Andrew Weatherall to Damian Lazarus fall in love.
