De Marktkantine, the familiar club at Amsterdam’s Jan van Galenstraat, has been open for one and a half years now. The collective of promoters and dance scene veterans behind the club set a common goal to turn it into a prominent nightlife venues, in-tune with the latest developments in underground dance, while not shying away from the odd surprise in its program either.
While some promising nights at the club were met with disappointing ticket sales, other events saw the venue reach its full potential, like the pandemonium witnessed during Ame B2B Job Jobse, the Innervisions label night with Dixon or the sweet chaos created by the eclectic Mr. Scruff last January (we recommend you check this guy out the next time he’s in town).
For its spring program, De Marktkantine has now rolled out an impressive series of events and all-nighters headlined by scene favourites that will make it hard for Amsterdam dance buffs to miss out on. Starting with none other than DJ Harvey, who will be taking ‘De Tine’ on a disco extravaganza, also coming up is French grandmaster Laurent Garnier and the return of Papa Väth, after three years absence from the Amsterdam club scene. Also making their appearance in the coming months are the likes of Carl Craig, Levon Vincent, a unique return of Body & SOUL – Francois K, Joe Clausell & Danny Krivit -, veteran of veterans Sasha, a B2B night between DJ Sotofett & DJ Fett Burger, DJ Koze and a B2B of house heads Jamie Jones and the Martinez Brothers. Last but not least is David August playing a DJ Set, something he hasn’t done for a while, so that should be special.
Other performances in the coming months will be coming from the hands of Hot Chip, Henry Saiz, Scuba, Mike Servito, Scuba, Marcel Dettmann, Noir, Anthony Parasole and Stephan Bodzin (live)
