DGTL Podcast #004 by Noir
One of the artists we’re very much looking forward to seeing at DGTL is Denmark’s prolific DJ/producer Noir. Noir is your typical all rounder: DJ, producer, great remixer and label head of his own successful imprint. Even after being ten years in the game, his strides throughout his career are still impressive.
After a succesful first edition last year, DGTL will return on April 19 and 20 with its long-awaited (now two-day!) spring festival at the NDSM Docklands. With 81 first-class DJs lined up, the organization is set on breaking some records, including its own, and treat Amsterdam to one of the first big highlights of the festival season. So what can we expect music wise? Well there’s something for everybody’s taste, but quality will of course be the common factor that binds the festival. Expect soulful, funky tunes at the Crew Love area (Soul Clap, Wolf + Lamb, Pillowtalk), rough tech-house at the Digital stage (Jamie Jones, Hot Since 82, Pan-Pot) or go deeeep at the Phono stage (Finnebassen, Adana Twins, Prunk). In total there are six stages, each with its own unique character and style.
He gave up his daytime job at the end of 2003 to focus on his DJ career and hasn’t looked back since. After spending most of 2004 concentrating on perfecting his sound, Noir got his international debut in 2005 and has since had releases on labels such as Toolroom, Defected, Play Digital, Get Physical, his very own Noir Music and a range of others. Support for his innovative sound was unprecedented, with Dubfire, Carl Cox, Luciano, Pete Tong, Nic Fanciulli and Roger Sanchez amongst the major supporters for his productions from day one.
Noir isn’t a stranger in the Amsterdam scene and has a vast fan base in Holland’s capital. All the love this Dane spreads through his music he gets back in return tenfold from his crowds. At DGTL, this won’t be any different. Too bad we still have to wait a few more weeks for this weekend to come. Until then we’re just counting down those days, with this podcast playing really loud over our speakers.
