During ADE 2014, we invited over two formidable artists that hardly need any introduction: Jimpster and Gabriel Ananda. During the livestream at The Boom Room’s ADE headquarters at Leidseplein, both DJs dropped by for a 30-minute set. You can listen to both The Boom Room sets here.
Jamie Odell, aka Jimpster, has been producing, remixing and DJing for the last 20 years and co-running esteemed UK deep house label Freerange Records (voted Best British Label 2007 in DJ Mag) for the last 17 of them. More recently he set up Delusions Of Grandeur as an outlet for more underground and raw tracks introducing and helping to establish artists such as 6th Borough Project, Tornado Wallace and Session Victim. His musical upbringing and very early introduction to production (his first release was on influential UK label Jumpin’ & Pumpin’ in 1990 alongside labelmates Future Sound Of London) have helped him forge a sound that is both warm and deep as well as being innovative and club-friendly, a style which is naturally reflected in the releases on his labels.
Gabriel Ananda is known for breaking hearing-habbits, using well dosed deep structured sounds. Connoisseurs of the uncommon enjoy his straight and fiddly cool beats, ranging from techno to house and everything in between. But definitions really become useless when Techno, House and Dub merge together like in Gabriel Anandas productions. “Acoustic elements give a personal note to my electronic music”. This guy knows how to electrify the partycrowd with his live sets and how to pull them into his spell. There are no stylistic boundaries for Gabriel Ananda, except his own versatile musical taste.
