Lil Louis, one of the undisputed godfathers of House, has been working on a documentary for the past seven years that will tell the story on the birth, beginnings and progress of House music. The first teaser of the highly anticipated documentary ‘The House That Chicago Built’ has recently appeared online. The 5-minute video shows us clips of some very familiar faces, who all make their appearance in the flick, getting asked the question: “What is the first House record ever made?” A tough question for sure, as their reactions show us.

For the documentary, Lil Louis has interviewed a total of 180 artists from the dance scene, ranging from old-school heroes like Frankie Knuckles, Larry Heard, Chez Damier, Marshall Jefferson or Derrick May all the way to today’s superstars like David Guetta and Avicii. This huge amount of people interviewed for one documentary actually sounds about right when you start to think about it, because House spans a musical timeline of around three and a half decades now.
