Solid Grooves has had an incredible first full season in Ibiza, but sadly it all had to come to a close. That closing party was on a sunny Thursday in late September and featured a typically heavyweight selection of fresh house names. AudioJack, Dennis Cruz, Latmun, Pawsa and promoter Michael Bibi all played what was a memorable occasion.
The venue has been at the heart of the action of course, and has really been a star of the season. Vista Club in Privilege boats a small, raw and cosy feeling when on the dance floor. The sound system is a beefy one that cannot fail to make an impact on you and with the now famous big glass windows down one side allowing light in come sun up and you have a very special setting.
The crowd, too, has proved to be a knowledgable one full of club kids keen to get to dancing work rather than standing around chatting. They have really made for some fine atmospheres this season and once again they packed the place out tonight, from the first beat to the last. What has made this party stand out is the desire to get sweaty, as well as the edgy underground house and tech line-ups. Tonight each DJ came correct and played some tunes that have become Solid Grooves anthems, as well as a wide spread of sou and tech from across the years.
AudioJack, who live in Ibiza, really served up some tough grooves that got us shifting shapes and put the sound system through its paces. They offered their own edits with plenty of tunes we didn’t know and it made the crowd really yelp and cheer on many occasions. One of the biggest sets of the night understandably came from a top surprise guest in the form of wAFF. A regular groover throughout the season, his big and rolling techno infused sound brought the party. Bouncing about in the booth with untold energy, he seamlessly mixed well sequenced tracks and gave people exactly what they wanted with no let up.
Special word goes to Michael Bibi, resident and founder and someone who must have been in his element as he played to a hungry crowd tonight. He went back to back with fellow Solid Grooves regulars Pawsa, Dennis Cruz and Latmun and it was a set full of fire that really got people going. Surely Solid Grooves will be back next year and already they have parties line-up in London in October, so get yourself down for a real taste of the party.
