5 tracks that we heard at ZENFest
ZENFest has just provided us a great opportunity to dance for the first time in ages. The compact and boutique festival in the rolling green landscapes of Essex’s Kelvedon Hall was a secret hideaway with a super sound and friendly crowd.
The dancing took place by glistening lake in front of a historic Edwardian house with world class DJs Richy Ahmed, Pat Wilson, Max Dean, Ryan Resso, DJ Caspa, Funk Cartel and many more all playing. Luckily the weather held, and with the great production easy access to bars and toilets and two stages with stunning visuals, world class sound and forward thinking design and you have a real UK festival gem.
Here are the Top 5 tunes we heard at the festival.
Luuk van Dijk – Da Revolution
Luuk Van Dijk came back with an absolute stomper when he dropped duties one last year. It might be the best tune the producer has dropped d- hard edge but funky, sleek yet warm, it’s a perfect modern tech house cut.
Jeffery & MADZ – Adome
There is a dark, dirty, playful feel to this one with its glitchy beatwork, but the big trumpets are what lift it to another level and take the crowd with it. A fine house gem for sure.
Max Dean – What You Wont Do For Love
This is a red hot 2021 jam that has had plenty of hammer this year. Its got super slick drums and spaced out pads that make it a nice fulsome but deliciously deep sound to get lost in.
Julio Bashmore – Battle For Middle You
This one is a modern house classic with bounce and bass to spare. It went down a treat and got an immediate reaction from the crowd.
George Morel – Lets Groove
This is a textbook slice of US garage house that started the UKG revolution over on these shores many years ago, Chunky drums, driving kicks, that low slung bass – it’s a perfect tune to lock in a floor and thats exactly what it did.
