Niki4 is a Moscow based DJ/Producer who already is making a strong impression across Melodic Techno & Indie Dance circuits. She brings to the table a driving tech sound full of rich synth colour, that is sure to bring her a lot of fans for sure, and is certainly a young artist to keep an eye on, who is often supported by Nick Warren, Karmon, Raumakustik, The Black Madonna and more. We caught up with her recently to talk about how 2021 has been for her, and her upcoming collaboration EP with Lil’M “Acid Altai”…

Hey, how are you, what have been the highlights of 2021 for you?

In 2020, it was decided to suspend releases by me personally, as well as by some of the labels I work with. So 2021is the year of resurrection of the world of dance music. We are all happy to see that some of the festivals happened in the summer of 2021. Labels started to release music which they have been keeping for better times.

What was it like to get back to partying and DJing again after the pandemic?

Sometimes in order to make a person happy, you need to take away what he has, and then just return it back. Now people come to the party which may be the last one before the new lockdown, and go crazy. But at the same time it is very stressful for organizers. This is a difficult time for all workers in the industry, not every country has opened its doors to nightclubs yet and I hope it will end soon.

What is the scene in where you are from like? Are you a lone operator or are you part of a vibrant creative community?

I can tell that I’m proud of nightlife in Moscow. Almost every weekend you can enjoy beautiful music, any style, any time, this city never sleeps. You can go out on Friday and come back home on Monday. I’ve never been a part of any community but a couple years ago we started to create our own thing, our music label community — Correct View. I’m going to post some updates really soon, and we are having the first release dropping in the middle of December.

Where does the impulse to create something come from for you? What role do sources of inspiration like dreams, other forms of art, personal relationships, politics etc play?

My inspiration is a good mood, best weather, and when we are on the same page with my colleages with who we are creating music. Also I’m inspired now a lot with indie dance music which comes from alot of Israelian artists. I’m doing what I love, I’m not expecting any result, I’m just enjoying the process.

You have recently started a new label Correct View – what is the aim and musical outlook? Is it just for your stuff?

We are together with Lil’m and decided to be focused on indie dance music. But also Correct View White will release house music, and we are open for every artist and for collaborations too.

You have a new ep coming on the label – tell us about it.

December 17 we are releasing our first EP “Acid Altai” And January 14 EP “Triplet” It’s a good mix of Indie Dance music and acid synths from the past.

How did you link with the artists that you did? What was it like working with them?

Sometimes it’s a question of time and how lucky you are to meet the right people at the right time. Mostly with all of them we are friends for many years. Some people just contacted me on social media with some collaboration propositions and we went from there.

What else have you got coming up/are you working on?

As I said before I’ve been keeping a few EPs and singles for better times, and the time is now 🙂 I’m having 2 releases on our label in December, and one more single with a kind of new sound for me on Buttress Records in January. There will also be an EP on Monza Ibiza Records in February and the most awaited EP, a collaboration with Goom Gum which we are planning for this spring.
