We sit down with DJ and producer Sideral to celebrate his latest release on Mind Against’s Habitat label. We discuss the release, his studio, his goals and more…
Hey Sideral, how are you, what’s good in your world?
Hello guys!
Thank you so much for having me here, I’m very well, and excited about the new beginning!
Why did you want to do a new alias, what inspired or influenced it?
I’ve been thinking about creating a new project for the last 4/5 years but I wanted to wait for the right moment both in terms of my personal growth and the opportunity for a new beginning.
Was there a plan for it from the start, did you know how you wanted it to sound? What was the aim generally with it?
My goal is to convey all the passion I have for electronic music. I’ve always focused more on putting my personality into every single track.
Any key gear used in the making of this new music – does that side interest you?
First of all, I like using Omnisphere, the Native Instruments bundle then Playbox, Analog Dreams, Diva, Serum, and of course my favorite one Roland SH 101.
Tell us about the new “Trills” EP on the new label Habitat from Mind Against?
Trills Ep for me is the answer to the question „Who is Sideral”?
Two completely different, almost opposite tracks, two sides of my reality that I carry inside myself, like a curse but which gives me the possibility of never being monotonous.
I’m very happy and proud that Mind Against understands perfectly that side of my style and makes people appreciate it.
About your style/aims when it comes to DJing – are you someone who likes to get people in a trance, who likes a sense of fun in their sets, or who likes to shock etc.?
I would like the people who listen to me to enter an emotional journey almost like a telepathic journey between me and them.
And where is your best environment? A small dark club or a huge outdoor festival stage? Late at night for the weirdos or early so you can play slow and eclectic?
I’ve always felt comfortable playing in small clubs and then moving on to bigger ones.
I believe in growth and evolution but I also believe that playing in front of 200 people in a small club is very important for the growth of the artist.
What’s next now for you?
I got two upcoming key shows in Montevideo, Uruguay and Tel Aviv, Israel. Keep an eye on my socials!
What was the last record you bought and why?
It’s Fango – Betta [COCOON]. I’ve been following Cocoon Recordings from the very beginning of my electronic music journey.
