Hey Timboletti! Thanks for joining us – how are you? How has summer 2024 been for you so far?
Hey hey, I am fine! – Well, it feels like it has been raining since November last year until very recently, so summer has just started, but I am sure it will be a good one 🙂
It says in your bio you escaped from a confetti factory and joined a flea circus! Where did this fun story originate from?
Oh, one time I had to write a bio for something and I guess I got bored with just another blah blah bio that didn’t really matter, so I just made up a funny one.
How would you describe your sound in three words?
Bouncy, Melodic, G-Minor.
Tell us about your new EP ‘Turn Off The Clock’ on Do Not Sit On The Furniture Recordings – what was the inspiration for the release?
Well, both tracks are actually a few years old already and driven by darker emotions or maybe even the feeling of being lost, at least the foundation of the track is. I started them in the peak of shitty times for DJs and other on-stage-performing artists during lock-up in 2020 or 2021. I knew there was some magic within them but I could not really unlock it for quite some time. Last year I finally was able to do so, at least I think so, and happily signed them to Do Not Sit 🙂
What is your studio/production set-up like? Is it simple or packed with gear?
I have two studio situations, both are set up pretty simple with a pair of Neumann KH120 + Subwoofer. In the living-room-studio, I have my little modular synthesiser system and in the basement there currently is a Deepmind12 + Minilogue + 303 Clone. But my Laptop is packed with great digital gear by Arturia (amazing Vst-Synth Collection) + a lot of great Effects. I love to use Soundtoys, Moog-Effects and UAD.
What artists and labels have been your biggest inspiration in your career so far?
There are so so many. Copycow of course 😉 – 3000Grad and Acker Records, Red Axes and Maccabi House recently.
What music do you like to listen to outside of electronic music?
Hmmm.. Ambient, some golden age Hip Hop and “Trip Hop”, and some Roots Reggae, but that’s all pretty rare at the moment. Mostly it’s bum bum music of any kind.
What is one of your favourite tracks to play in mixes at the moment?
If the dancefloor is already on fire I love to play Red Axes feat. A. Lonzo’s “Hey” and see the people go crazy, hehe.
What do you do to relax outside of the studio?
Taking hikes in nature or bicycle rides with my family, watching/listening to stand-up comedy and gardening.
What else can we expect from you for the rest of 2024?
For sure remixes for Uone, Lola Villa, The Oddness, Yusuf Lemone, APHE, Daniel Hokum, Ben&Vincent and at least one EP, maybe I can even finish two or three, but my son’s summer holidays are about to start soon, so I am not really sure about that, hehe.
