Help #SaveFabric By Signing Online Petition
With the recent troubles of London Techno insisutuon fabric well known by now, a petition has began circulating urging the Islingon Council to allow the venue to remian open.
In short, over the past 9 weeks or so, 2 teenage males have died at the venue as a result of drug related complications. With that, fabric self closed two weekends back and now remains closed as they face review of their license (scheduled for 6 September).
Began by WETYOURSELF! promoter Jacob Husley (you may remember him from the elderly Polish couple story a few months back), the change.org petition has gained quite some steam over the web with nearly 17,000 signatures (out of the necessary 25,000 for Parliament to address the issue) already raised.
Of the petition, Husley says:
The reason why I’ve brought up this story is because it shows something about us, the clubbing community, about the culture behind it and how fabric operates – that no matter how old you are, rich or poor, colour or gender, you are welcome in the club and you will be looked after. It’s like a big family. This is the ethos that’s at the core of club culture and fabric’s operations.
With the vocal support of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and the rapid fire petition response, hopefully the powers that be will get the idea that, though doing everything in their power to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all, when tragedy does strike, perhaps immediate termination is not the answer. I mean, won’t it just find a new venue?
