Hey Mario, great to speak to you.
Congratulations on the amazing new album! Can you tell us a bit about where the idea for the album first came about, and what your vision was for it?
Hey guys! Thanks for the questions. Sadly or not, I have to say the impact of the whole pandemic situation is also involved in the making of the album. It all started in 2020, when somehow the most important thing wasn’t to write or release music, there were no clubs and parties, so quite a few projects pent-up. December 2020 the idea came to me what it would be like to use these projects to write an LP that is concentrated in one big mix. So not only were 13 new tracks born, I also made a 74-minute mix.
What inspirations did you draw from? How did you find producing dance music whilst we were away from the dancefloor?
The musical concept was that I was immersed in the things I socialized in the beginning. I tried to mix this with the sounds I’ve experienced over the 16-18 years of my career and wrap it all up in a modern robe with my current sound. So, I think it has become very special, kneading my past with my present and my future J
What sort of gear did you use when producing the album? Do you use a lot of hardware?
I didn’t use too much hardware, I used an external device several times for drums and bass, and we used a physical resonator for two song tracks at the vocals, but it’s no secret… that I’m a big plugin fan, so these are present in a bigger proportion on the album.
Do you make music with certain situations in mind, for example early hours as the sun comes up at a festival?
Of course, when I write a piece of music in my mind, I can always put it in a timeline, and the elements get in accordingly.
What is your method of production like? Do you just start jamming or do you already have an idea in your head about what the track is going to sound like?
I start with the theme quite a lot lately, there are already 5-6 themes in a project when I put the first drums into it, which is weird because it the past it was the exact opposite.
How did you hook up with Monday Social Music for the record?
A few months before the album was done, Freddy contacted me about a remix, it somehow didn’t come together, but we stayed in touch and I showed him the album. Then we consulted many times over the phone and when I saw that they also feel the same potential in it, then I knew the tracks was going to be in a good place. They have been doing a huge job ever since, and I thank them again.
Who would be your dream collaboration, dead or alive?
Hot Since 82
If you had to choose one track to close the last party ever, what would it be?
Wow this is a very difficult question, but probably I would hesitate a lot , James Holden & Thompson – Nothing (93 Returning Mix) or Djuma Soundsystem – Les Djinns (Trentemoller Remix)
